Cedar Hill ISD First Responder Appreciation
MICHAEL SUDHALTER

Two years ago, Nicholas Jackson made the transition from Cedar Hill High School Criminal Justice Teacher to Cedar Hill ISD Police Officer.

“I wanted to switch it up and still be able to stay with the school district,” said Jackson, who is currently assigned to CHHS.

Jackson’s experience in the classroom helped make the move to law enforcement a seamless one.

“I think that was a huge part of it,” Jackson said.

Jackson was honored before Friday’s home football game as the First Responder of the Week, sponsored by DAPPS. CHISD Security Officers Shawn Berry and Randall Prouty were also honored.

Jackson, who had interest in law enforcement since he was a child growing up in Indiana, served as a part-time officer in a neighboring community while he taught at CHHS.

Prior to entering law enforcement, Jackson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and served in the Indiana National Guard as a military police officer.

Jackson has also played a role in mentoring new and prospective law enforcement officers, including Christian Jarmon, a CHHS graduate whom Jackson saw graduate from the police academy earlier this year.
