Cedar Hill ISD Selected For AI+ Education Leadership Collaborative
MICHAEL SUDHALTER

The Cedar Hill Independent School District has been accepted into the inaugural cohort of the AI+ Education Leadership Collaborative, which begins on September 29-30 at the Mabel Peters Caruth Center at Communities Foundation of Texas.

This 10-month program is designed for executive educational leaders in the Metroplex.

It consists of six peer learning and expert-guided sessions that involve new learning, new mindsets, and change management strategies necessary to lead in the AI era.

CHISD Superintendent Dr. Maria Gamell learned about the program while attending an Economic Development meeting in Cedar Hill.

“I believe this is an excellent opportunity to partner with other school districts to share ways to shape our students for a world heavily influenced by AI,” said CHISD Chief Academic Officer Dr. Charlotte Ford. “By exploring creative ways to introduce AI – such as using interactive projects, real-world problem solving and age appropriate digital tools, educators can empower students with the skills and confidence to shape the future of this technology while expanding their access to economic and career opportunities.”

Dr. Ford, along with CHISD Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Dr. Cherron Montgomery, and CHISD Executive Director of Counseling Services Dr. Courtney Jackson will represent the District at the symposium.

CHISD is one of only eight ISDs in North Texas to be part of the Collaborative.

Moderators and guest speakers will include educational AI leaders such as Dr. Jace Hargis, the Chief AI Strategist at Texas Woman’s University and Dr. Kerri Briggs, Executive Director of Educate Texas.

Among the topics discussed will be leading with confidence at a time when AI is growing rapidly, how public policy regarding AI will impact school districts, and how districts will navigate balancing innovation with student safety.

The five sessions between December and May will highlight College & Career Readiness, Teaching & Learning, Operational Efficiency, Academic Integrity and presenting the solutions that were determined from the previous sessions.
