Collegiate Academy’s Wilson Wins 2026 Cedar Hill ISD Spelling Bee
MICHAEL SUDHALTER

The third time was a charm for Collegiate Academy seventh grader Arthur Wilson.

Wilson finished in the top five at the past two Cedar Hill ISD Spelling Bees, but Wednesday was his night at the JoLynn Maddox Teaching & Learning Center.

“I studied the words quite a bit,” Wilson said. “I am excited about it.”

Wilson won the 2026 CHISD Spelling Bee in the 17th round, by correctly spelling “dissolution”. Half of those rounds were between him and runner-up Madelynn Marin, a High Pointe Elementary fifth grader. Waterford Oaks fourth grader Hadees Sahi finished third.

Wilson came oh-so-close to winning the Bee a few rounds earlier, but he missed the spelling of “leviathan” by one letter.

Wilson will represent CHISD at the Dallas County Spelling Bee next month, with Marin as the alternate.

“I will continue to study so I can win the Dallas County Spelling Bee,” Wilson said.

District Testing and Accountability Coordinator Brian Ward reprised his role as the pronouncer. Judges were Cedar Hill ISD Board Secretary Carma Morgan, CHISD Secondary ELAR Coordinator Michelle Lenear-Stimpson, and former “Survivor” contestant Aysha Welch.
