Cedar Hill ISD Lieutenant Jimmy Hogg has worked in security for Cedar Hill Independent School District since before the district started a police department.
Hogg arrived at Cedar Hill High School in 2003, and the following year, CHISD started its own police department.
Hogg, the Dallas Area Patrol Area Protection Services (DAPPS) First Responder Appreciation honoree, now oversees a staff of 11 security guards and works closely with Cedar Hill ISD Police Chief James Hawthorne and Lieutenant Carlos Below.
For 18 of the past 23 years, Hogg has worked as the department’s lead security officer.
“I’m working on plans every day,” Hogg said. “I’m a man of action, not words. I just believe in taking care of business – keeping the kids and the staff safe.”
The Dallas native joined Cedar Hill ISD after working in the automotive industry for two decades. A father of three CHISD graduates, Hogg was approached about joining the district after coaching youth sports in the community.
He’s worked under three police chiefs and recently, Hogg watched the department grow significantly, thanks to the passage of the 2023 Voter Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE).
“It’s a plus to watch the department grow,” Hogg said. “We needed more officers a long time ago. We didn’t have another choice but to get more officers here.”
Hogg briefly considered retirement but then realized, it’s a “calling from the Lord to continue helping the kids.”
