After working in two large Dallas County school districts, Jose Orozco is glad to be in Cedar Hill ISD.
“We will streamline the bilingual process for better results,” Orozco said. “I’m glad to be in such a close-knit community.”
Orozco was hired as CHISD's Director of Emergent Bilingual Services earlier this month. He may be working in a smaller school district for the first time, but he’s had experience living in smaller communities.
After graduating from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) with a Business degree, the Juarez, Mexico native worked as a Productions Operations Manager for Tyson Foods. That career path took him to a series of small communities in the American heartland.
“I worked very long hours and was looking for a change,” Orozco said.
Orozco moved home to Juarez and earned a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education at UTEP.
Dallas ISD was hiring bilingual teachers, and Orozco was granted a visa to teach there.
Once in DFW, Orozco earned a second Master’s Degree – in Administration & Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.
In addition to DISD, Orozco also worked in Garland ISD.
Orozco, who is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, said his experience as a corporate manager has translated to the skills he’s utilized as an administrator.
He’s hopeful that his new role will combine the work that he’s done as a coordinator and instructional specialist.
“Bilingual education opens a lot of doors for scholars,” Orozco said.
Orozco is looking forward to the launch of the Highlands World Language Academy, which will open for the 2026-2027 school year.
