Permenter English Teacher Glad to Return to Classroom
MICHAEL SUDHALTER

Dr. Stefani Morrow has worked as a teacher, principal, assistant principal and instructional coach during a 25 year career as an educator.

The Permenter Middle School Sixth-Grade English Teacher is grateful to be back in the classroom after several years.

“This has been a great experience because I’d been out of schools for a really long time,” Morrow said. “Covid has changed schools. Time has changed schools. It’s great to really understand challenges teachers are facing. You read and hear about these things. To live it first hand has been a really telling experience.”

Morrow, who has worked for various districts in Dallas County, left public education to work in EdTech and the private sector.

“I’ve always been a teacher in all of the roles I’ve had,” Morrow said. “I’ve always taken the lessons learned and worked with students. I transferred that into adult learning. I decided to come back to my first love, which was teaching.”

Morrow began her teaching career as a fifth-grade English teacher, so sixth-grade English was a natural fit.

“It’s the sweet spot,” Morrow said. “It’s not as young as the elementary and not as old as the high school. I navigated my way back to a familiar space. My goal is for them to be a better reader, writer, and thinker.”

Morrow grew up in Dallas and earned a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Abilene Christian University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from East Texas A&M University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Prairie View A&M University.

While she was in the private sector, Morrow authored two books – “From The Principal’s Desk: 21 Lessons in ‘Passionpreneurship’” and “Words To Win By” – a book of daily affirmations that she co-authored with her husband.

“I wanted to be more active in my children' s lives – they were three and one at the time,” Morrow said. “People asked ‘how did you make the decision to leave the principalship?’ When you’re asked a question three or more times, it’s time to put it into a book.”

Morrow said it is a breath of fresh air to work for Permenter principal Dr. Lemons. She especially enjoys her high levels of instructional leadership.
