Cedar Hill High School senior Rylan Jones, a two-sport star in basketball and volleyball, earned District 6A-11 Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player honors.

Jones was one of the key leaders for the Lady Longhorns (29-9) who reached the State Championship Game for the first time in 28 years and just third time in program history.

They lost a hard-fought 52-49 game in the UIL Class 6A Division I State Championship Game to Humble Summer Creek last Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Cedar Hill finished the regular season ranked 10^th in Class 6A and defeated #5 Duncanville, 67-57, in the Regional Final – exactly two weeks after a 21-point loss to the Pantherettes.

Last December, Cedar Hill traveled to an elite tournament in Washington D.C. and returned home to defeat Lancaster (a 6A, Division II semifinalist). 

Cedar Hill also defeated DeSoto for the first time in six years and went on to sweep the season series with the Lady Eagles.

District 6A-11 is widely considered the top girls basketball district in Texas. They went 14-4 in the postseason this winter.

Junior Lyntoria Daniel earned Sixth Woman of the Year honors, while seniors Brooklyn King (a Furman signee), Trinity Thomas and Makiyah Risby were named First Team All-District.

Seniors Sydney Moultrie and Olivia Ward were named Honorable Mention All-District.

Jones, King, Moultries, Risby, Ward and junior Alisa Romah earned Academic All-District honors.
