Cedar Hill High School (CHHS) Assistant Principal Jeremy Taulton, a 2014 Collegiate High School graduate, will begin a new role with the district on July 1.

Taulton will transition to the position of Coordinator of Safety and Security. Although the position is part of the Cedar Hill ISD Police Department, it is an operations role, not a law enforcement position.

"The position involves making sure we are in compliance with security procedures, ensuring that campuses know emergency protocols, and that our students and staff feel safe every day," Taulton said.

The new position is not a complete departure for Taulton, who has served as an assistant principal at Cedar Hill High School for the past four years. One of his responsibilities as an assistant principal was overseeing operations at the CHHS campus.

"When I arrived at CHHS, there were some systems that needed to be put in place, and we did that," Taulton said. "I want to take that across the district so we can make improvements on a wider scale."

Taulton, who is currently serving as Cedar Hill ISD's (CHISD) High School Summer School Principal, said he will "definitely miss the daily interactions with students and staff," but he is ready for the challenge of the new position.

Taulton succeeds longtime Emergency Management Coordinator Chris Santos, who retired in early 2026. The two often collaborated on emergency management and operations matters over the last four years.

After graduating from Collegiate High School and later from Tarleton State University, Taulton returned to CHISD to work in central administration. He assisted the late Shay Whittaker in the district's Family and Community Engagement (FACE) office before transitioning to teaching at Collegiate Academy Middle School.

Taulton later left the district for teaching and administrative roles while earning a graduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington before returning to CHISD when Whittaker hired him as one of four assistant principals at CHHS. His three fellow assistant principals are also transitioning to other administrative positions. Idol Mallard will become principal at Waterford Oaks Elementary, Tiranus Edwards will serve as principal at Hilltop Academy/STRIVE, and Nicole Rose will move to the JoLynn Maddox Teaching & Learning Center.

Taulton is excited to make an impact district-wide and help strengthen the district's operations overall.
