Williams Excels In The Classroom, On The Diamond

Collegiate High School rising senior Lily Williams’ impressive statistics on the softball diamond are only eclipsed by her success in the classroom.

Williams, 16, scored a 1470 on the SAT – which was the highest score of any scholar in the Collegiate Class of 2026.

“I hope to attend a high-academic NCAA Division III school and play softball there,” said Williams, who is a member of Collegiate’s National Honor Society.

Williams was named the District 6A-11 Softball Co-Utility Player of the Year after hitting .629 with six home runs, eight triples, 10 doubles, 18 RBI, 39 runs scored and a 1.399 slugging percentage. As a pitcher, she struck out 160 batters.

One of the challenges she faces is competing for Cedar Hill High School, while attending classes at Dallas College-Cedar Valley in Lancaster, which requires being adept  at time management.

“The Collegiate Pathway seemed like the best arrangement with the academics,” said Williams, who arrived in CHISD as a fifth grader in 2018 at Collegiate Prep Elementary. “I definitely like attending Collegiate. We have more freedom but more responsibility.”

Williams has played softball since she was 7 years old. She’s enjoyed the opportunity to play for head coach Regis Andrez.

“He knows how to help us improve on everything,” Williams said.

Williams hopes to lead the softball program to its first playoff appearance since 2018 next spring.

“I definitely looking forward to playing and leading the team,” Williams said.
